Nominees for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards were announced yesterday, with Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift leading the list of nominees with 10 each, followed by Billie Eilish with nine and Lil Nas X with eight.
All four will compete in the Video of the Year category, with Ari up for “thank u, next,” Taylor nominated for “You Need to Calm Down,” Billie recognized for “Bad Guy,” and Lil Nas X is up for “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus Also nominated in the category are Jonas Brothers for “Sucker” and 21 Savage featuring J.Cole for “a lot.”
Meanwhile, Ari and Billie will both compete for Artist of the Year, where they’ll go head-to-head with Jonas Brothers, Cardi B, Halsey and Shawn Mendes. This year also introduced the first-ever K-Pop category, and, of course BTS is nominated, as is BLACKPINK, NCT 127 and more.
Voting across 14 categories is open until August 14th. The 2019 VMAs, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco, airs August 26th at 9 pm live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Taylor Swift may be dealing with yet another stalker. Police arrested 32-year-old David Page Liddle near her Rhode Island home on Friday, and he was armed with a bat, gloves, lock picks, a crowbar and more.
Cops caught the man after responding to reports of a guy wearing a backpack with a bat sticking out at a park in Tay's neighborhood. He told cops he had already traveled to Nashville and New York in an attempt to “catch up with Taylor” in the hopes she could help him with his music career.
Earlier in the day he had been seen near the singer’s property, so the cop booked him, holding him on $10,000 bail.
Britney Spears and boyfriend Sam Asghari made their red carpet debut this week at the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” and their appearance sparked some major speculation.

Thomas Rhett’s family is about to get bigger. The singer announced on Instagram that he and wife Lauren are expect their third child and it’s going to be another girl.
“Excited to share that I will now be paying for 3 weddings,” Thomas writes next to a family picture, with Lauren in a bikini showing off her bump alongside their two daughters Willa and Ada. “I feel so blessed to say that our third child is on the way and it’s a girl!!”
He adds, “I love you so much @laur_akins. WG and AJ, y’all are gonna be the best big sisters! Bring on the crazy.”
