Mariah Carey Sues Former Assistant For Blackmail
Mariah Carey has filed a lawsuit against her former personal assistant, claiming the former employee is trying to blackmail her.
TMZ reports Mariah is suing Lianna Azarian, also known as Lianna Shakhnazarian, who she hired in 2015 as an executive assistant. In the lawsuit, Mariah claims Azarian used her credit card to buy personal stuff, and also dropped Mariah’s name while shopping, claiming she was buying items for the singer in order to get deep discounts. But that wasn’t the worst of it.
Mariah didn’t know it but Azarian was actually also secretly filming the singer's “personal activities,” which Mariah deems “embarrassing,” with sources describing the tapes as “intimate.” Azarian reportedly told friends if she was ever fired she’d sell them and when Mariah did indeed fire her in November, 2017 Azarian tried to blackmail her to the tune of $8 million. Azarian threatened to not only release the tape but other damaging info if she didn’t get paid.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Mariah is suing Azarian for breaking her non-disclosure agreement, as well as "breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and conversion of personal property." She is seeking no less than $3 million in damages, and plus fees.A source tells TMZ the suit is part of Mariah’s “continued efforts to clean the trash from her life,” adding, Azarian’s “threats and bad acts are too great to be ignored, Mariah has been compelled to file a lawsuit against her."
