Britney Spears’ Album Delayed
Britney Spears has postponed her Las Vegas residency following her father Jamie’s life-threatening illness, but it turns out her decision to focus on her dad also means we won’t be getting any new music from her.
“Variety” reports that Britney’s “indefinite work hiatus” has also pushed back a new album, which was supposed to come out around the time of the residency’s launch in February.
The site reports that Justin Tranter, who’s worked with Imagine Dragons and Selena Gomez, is the executive producer behind the album, which would have been Britney’s tenth studio record. While Tranter confirmed he was “involved” in the project, he wouldn’t say when it will come out, or even if it will be this year.
“Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better,” Brit’s manager Larry Rudolph adds. “But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin. Right now, she’s taking some time off to deal with these family issues.”
Normani Talks About Dealing With Racism In Fifth Harmony
Former Fifth Harmony member Normani is opening up about the racism she had to deal with as the only African American member of the group, saying it took a "subconcious" toll on her mental health.
“You think, ‘Why am I the least-followed in the group?’ Even if you don’t recognize that you’re paying close attention to it, it takes a toll on your confidence," she tells "Billboard." You worry — is it me? Is it because I’m black? Or am I just not talented?”
As for how her bandmates reacted, she shares, “They tried to be there for me as best as they could. But I don’t think they had the tools that they needed, because it’s not their experience. I can give them credit for trying to be there for me, but at the same time…The girls don’t experience things the way I did.”
