Ed Sheeran Surprises At The Bluebird Café

It seems as though Ed Sheeran is really digging Nashville. The singer played the city on Saturday, and  earlier this week he made a surprise appearance during Bruno Mars’ show at Bridgestone Arena. Well, now he made another surprise appearance, although this time it was at a much smaller venue.

Instead of attending the American Music Awards, Ed paid a visit to the legendary Bluebird Café, where he took in a songwriter’s round featuring his “Thinking Out Loud” co-writer Amy Wadge, along with Devin Dawson, David Hodges and Jillian Jacqueline.

Turns out, nobody in the audience really even noticed he was there until he surprised them by coming up on stage and joining Wadge to perform their hit song.

NBC Orders Songwriting Series From Adam Levine, Ryan Tedder And More

NBC has given the green light for another new music competition series, this time focused on songwriting.

“Songland,” executive produced by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and EurythmicsDave Stewart, and produced by OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, will give a lucky songwriter the chance to have their song recorded by a famous musician.

Each episode will see five songwriters performing a song for three producers and a major recording artist, who will then mentor them on how to improve the tune. Episode one is set to feature Charlie Puth, Shane McAnally, Tedder and Ester Dean.

The artist will eventually narrow down the songwriters to three, pair them with a producer, with the winning song becoming the artist’s next single.

“As a songwriter, I am all too familiar with the challenges that face the music community today,” Levine shares. “With this new series, we are excited to provide opportunities that will not only impact these songwriters’ careers but also give them a platform to truly showcase their talent to a global audience.”
