Aretha Franklin Reportedly In Hospice Care

We’re hearing more about “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin – and it isn’t good.  Franklin has been described as “gravely ill” and that she is surrounded by family and friends as she awaits the end of her life.

Now CNN is reporting that the legendary singer is receiving hospice care – and there are suggestions that the cancer she fought off nearly a decade ago has returned. That may be – but her family is trying to stay positive – and says she’s doing the same. While not addressing the newest reports directly, Franklin’s nephew, Tim Franklin, has confirmed that she’s home.

“She’s alert, laughing, teasing, able to recognize people,” he tells “People” magazine. “Family is there with her. She’s home.” As for what the future holds, Tim says everyone is “trying to keep her spirits up and go from there.” “We believe she’ll pull through it,” he adds. “She believes she’ll pull through it, and that’s the important thing.” She's said to be asking for prayers as well...and she's surely getting them.

In March, Franklin’s doctor ordered her to cancel her performances, one year after she announced she was retiring from music - save for a smattering of performances here and there. Franklin’s last public performance was in August 2017, with her taking the stage for the last time in November last year at the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York.

We're like childhood family, you know?"

Also sending her best wishes was Meghan Trainor, who shared, “You're so strong. We know you'll come back stronger than ever and I can't wait for her return.”

Meanwhile, Lauren Jaregui revealed that she spoke with Demi, sending her “so much love.” “We all go through our own struggles in life, and I feel like it's incredibly brave of her to be so open about it,” she says. “I think being famous [makes it] hard to go through things like that -- having everybody in your business is obviously invasive, so I just send her love and healing from whatever place I can.
