Lollapalooza Lineup Announced, Criticized For Lack of Women

The 2018 Lollapalooza lineup was just announced, with Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Jack White and Arctic Monkeys confirmed as this year's headliners.

This year’s fest takes place August 2nd to the 5th at Grant Park in Chicago, with a bill that also includes  Camila Cabello, Logic, Dua Lipa, Walk The Moon, Portugal, The Man, Khalid, Post Malone, Zedd, James Bay, Bebe Rexha, LL Cool J, Travis Scott and more.

While the massive lineup seems to satisfy most musical tastes with a mix of rock, pop, and urban acts, the fest is facing backlash for its lack of female performers. Social media users were quick to notice the first female act on the lineup, CHVRCHES, appears in the fourth row of the poster. What's more, of the 80 performers, only 18 are female.

The fest has mainly been headlined by males since its inaugural year in 1991, but last year Lorde was one of the first-named headliners. Her set was cut short due to weather conditions and some are wondering why she wasn’t brought back this year.

Harry Styles Almost Quotes Taylor Swift In Concert

Harry Styles almost quoted a lyric from his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift during a concert in Copenhagen this week.

Harry was having a chat with a member of the audience who was celebrating a birthday, and when he found out the concertgoer was 22, he quickly quipped, “Twenty-two, OK, I don't know about ..."

The quip was a reference to the lyric in Taylor’s song “22,” “"I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22." As you can imagine, the audience went wild.

Appeals Court Upholds “Blurred Lines” Verdict

Looks like Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke aren’t getting out of paying Marvin Gaye’s family. A federal appeals court just upheld the verdict in the “Blurred Lines” copyright case, that ruled the pair copied the Gaye tune “Gotta Give It Up” for their hit.

One person who did come out victorious in the appeal is T.I. The court ruled that the rapper, who contributed one verse to the song, was not liable in the case, so he doesn’t have to pay any of the damages.

In March, 2015 a jury awarded Gaye’s family $7.4 million, although that sum was decreased to $5.3 million, including a portion of the song’s royalties.
