Is Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” Video A Rip-off?
Taylor Swift debuted the video for her song “Delicate” during the iHeartRadio Music Awards Sunday night, and while most fans seemed to love it, there are at least some people who are taking issue with it. Specifically, some are accusing Taylor of ripping off the idea for the video from a Spike Jonze perfume ad.
Folks on social media have pointed out that Taylor’s clip is strikingly similar to Jonze’s commercial for the perfume Kenzo, which features ballerina Margaret Qualley as a bored woman at a gala who escapes, starts making funny faces and then dances away her troubles to the song “Mutant Brain" by Sam Spiegel & Ape Drums featuring Assassin.
The video for “Delicate” has Taylor seemingly bored with her life of stardom, and then escaping to a bathroom where she makes faces in the mirror until she suddenly becomes invisible to all around her and starts dancing.
And the similarities don’t end there. In both clips the stars are wearing similar tiered dresses, and they both contort their faces and dance around with somewhat inelegant moves, some of which are almost identical.
Says one tweeter: "Taylor Swift's 'Delicate' video is a poor man's version of Spike Jonze's ad for Kenzo, this bop deserved more."Another added: “Anybody else notice that the @taylorswift13 'Delicate' music video ripped off Spike Jonze's Kenzo video? It's almost beat-for-beat, just with worse dancing.”ONE MORE THING! Some have also suggested Taylor’s clip is a rip-off of the video for FatboySlim’s “Weapon of Choice," starring Christopher Walken, in which he dances through a hotel without a care in the world. That clip was directed by? Spike Jonze.
Halsey Voicing Superhero In Animated Flick
Halsey will be headed to the big screen this summer. Well, at least her voice will. The singer is set to voice Wonder Woman in “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies,” the big screen take on the Cartoon Network series.
And Halsey isn’t the only musical artist to land a role in the film. Rapper Lil Yachty is set to voice Green Lantern.
“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” hits theaters on July 27th.
