Taylor Swift Wants Real Estate Lawsuit Dismissed

Taylor Swift’s lawyers are fighting to get a lawsuit over a real estate deal dismissed. real estate broker Douglas Elliman is suing Taylor’s companies, Firefly Entertainment LLC and 13 Management LLC, claiming a broker from the firm facilitated a meeting with the owner of a Manhattan property but got cheated out of commission from its eventual sale to Taylor. Well, Taylor’s team says they aren’t owed a thing.

Lawyers for Firefly just filed a motion to dismiss the $1-million suit, claiming Douglas Elliman “had little or no involvement” in the real estate deal. They say the real estate agent in question arranged one showing of the property, and provided basic information, and then never talked to Taylor again.

The singer went on to purchase the property nine months later with another agent. They add that broker was not “involved in any capacity with the purchase and sale of the property.”

Mariah Carey Doesn’t Worry About GRAMMYs

Mariah Carey has won several GRAMMYs but she insists she doesn’t make music just to win awards. While some artists will consciously release an album ahead of the GRAMMY deadline, that just doesn’t play into Mariah’s schedule.

“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,” she tells “V” magazine. “I mean, I have five GRAMMYs. That’s cute.”

But while she may sound flippant about not winning, she does seem to feel a bit slighted by the GRAMMYs, since she’s been nominated 34 times and only won five, with her first coming in 1991 for Best New Artist.

“There’s people that have been doing this half the time that have twice as many. I won two GRAMMYs the first year I started, but after that, [the GRAMMYs] are like, ‘We don’t go with the people that are selling a lot of records and are popular; we’re gonna go the opposite way,’” she says. “So I got screwed out of certain years.” She adds, “I wasn’t bitter about it. I was just like, okay, well, I guess I’m not standing here barefoot onstage singing and trying to go a certain way. I’m just me.”

Mariah thinks she’s been snubbed because she doesn’t fit people’s image of a songwriter. She adds, “I also have that diva thing attached to me,” noting, “I mean, I’m sitting here doing an interview in lingerie. But I was just like, you’re totally gonna understand that this is what I’m gonna wear! Why should I wear something uncomfortable? This is what I like.”

James Bay Announces New Album

James Bay is getting ready to release his sophomore album. The singer just announced that his new record, “Electric Light,” will drop May 18th and is available for pre-order now.

“If I had to describe my first album visually it would probably be a flame — while this new album is about a real sonic and artistic evolution for me,” James shares. “The feeling of a 100 watt bulb expanding and brightening is what I envisioned. ‘Electric Light’ came to my mind and I knew it was perfect.”

The album features James’ latest single “Wild Love,” as well as the newly-released track “Pink Lemonade.”

And fans will likely get to hear him sing both tunes this weekend. He is the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live,” with host “This Is Us’” Sterling K. Brown.
