Katy Perry Debuts At Number One
As expected, Katy Perry debuted on top the “Billboard” 200 Album chart. The singer moved 180,000 copies of her latest release, “Witness,” to earn the number one spot, her third number one following 2013’s “Prism,” and 2010’s “Teenage Dream.”
Perry also has the biggest sales by a woman for 2017, and the largest sales by a women since Lady Gaga’s “Joanne” sold 201,000 units last November. It is also the second straight week a woman has topped the “Billboard” 200, following the number one debut of Halsey’s “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” last week.
Elsewhere on the “Billboard” 200, Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN” holds on to number two, while SZA’s “Ctrl” is at three, Lady Antebellum debuts at four with “Heart Break,” and Drake’s “More Life” is at five.
Rounding out the Top Ten are: Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” at six,” Halsey’s “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” at seven, Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” at eight, Rise Against’s “Wolves” at nine and Post Malone’s “Stoney” at ten.
Lorde Announces North American Tour
Lorde celebrated the release of her new album “Melodrama” Friday by announcing dates for her North American tour. “North America I would never forget about u – let’s dance,” she tweeted to fans.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until 2108 to see Lorde live. The U.S. tour kicks off March 1st in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and wraps April 15th in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ed Sheeran Honored By The Queen
Ed Sheeran has been honored by Queen Elizabeth II as part of her annual birthday honors. The singer received an MBE – Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The singer received the honor for services to music and charity.
Ed took to Instagram to react to the honor, writing, “Chuffed to be awarded an MBE for services to charity and music.”
