Mariah Carey Pays Tribute To George Michael

Mariah Carey just paid tribute to George Michael, who was finally laid to rest last week after passing away in December. For “Flashback Friday,” Mariah shared a video of her performing a cover of Michael’s “One More Try” at the Dubai Jazz Festival in February.

"In honor of him, this is George Michael, one of his greatest records," Carey says in the video. "I always loved it, I always loved him. He was a really great person. So we'll make it through this."

This isn’t the first time Mariah performed the Michael tune. She recorded the song for her album, "Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse,” and Michael approved of her cover. "Thank u for recording One more try," he wrote at the time of its release. "Such an honor 2 have one of the best voices in the world singing my song."

Elton John’s The Reason Ed Sheeran Took A Year-Long Break

Before releasing his latest album “Divide,” Ed Sheeran took a year-long break, and you can thank, or blame, Elton John for that. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Elton reveals that he was the one who pushed Ed to take some time off.

“He was so omnipresent I said, ‘Ed, even I’m sick of you. Go away.’ And he did,” Elton explains. “He just went to the Far East with his girlfriend, had a great time, put on a lot of weight, ate food and came back.” Elton adds, “It was the most brilliant thing he could have done, because it refreshes your soul.”

But the weight that Ed put on was actually an issue for Elton, who apparently warned him against that as well. “One thing I said to him when he went, I said, ‘Don’t put on weight,’ because he’s very prone to put on weight like I am,” Elton offers. “And he came back heavy, but he lost it all for the album. He just went away and had a great time.”

Finally, Elton says he sees a lot of himself in Ed. “He reminds me of me when I first started out; his enthusiasm and his love,” he says. “He’s always doing something, whether he’s writing his own stuff or he’s writing with other people…You know, I love him to death.”
