Bob Ross' First Ever TV Painting 'A Walk in the Woods' on Sale for $9.8M

Bob Ross' first-ever TV painting is on sale for $9.8 million.

Ross, who died in 1995 at the age of 52, was best known for his iconic program The Joy of Painting. He created “A Walk in the Woods” in 1983 on the first episode of the first season of the show. The oil-painted canvas piece features trees and rocks by a river and, according to ABC News, was created in less than thirty minutes.

"A Walk in the Woods has been listed on the Modern Artifact website for $9.85 million by gallery owner Ryan Nelson.

“What this piece represents is the people’s artist,” Nelson told ABC News, “This isn’t an institution that’s telling you that Bob Ross is great."

“It’s not some high-brow gallery telling you that Bob Ross is great,” Nelson added. “This is the masses, the population in the world, that are saying that Bob Ross is great.”
