When Ed Sheeran gets a day off, he can’t help but pop up somewhere unexpected. After surprising kids at children’s hospitals, tourists on double-decker buses and day-drinkers at beer gardens, the musician had another surprise up his sleeve this past weekend.
To the delight of kids and parents, Sheeran popped up in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston to perform alongside a group of young musicians at the Tobin Community Center. The “Shape of You” rocker came out singing “The Hills of Aberfeldy” and even performed “Eyes Closed” as the young musicians backed him up. After the mini concert, Sheeran took selfies, gave out a signed guitar and even invited the kids to his concert at Gillette Stadium that night.
Speaking of Gillette Stadium, Sheeran set another single-show attendance record there on July 1st with 71,723 in attendance. This beat out the previous record held by U2 during their 360 Tour in 2009. Sheeran’s “Mathematics Tour” will continue throughout the summer before wrapping up in September in Inglewood, California.
