TOM PETTY: Remembered By His Other Band

Tom Petty is remembered in a new video for “Crystal River,” a song from his old band, Mudcrutch.

The song is from a self-titled reunion album that came out in 2008 and was used as the closer on tours in 2008 and 2016. The video for it was created by Curtis Cooper, the brother-in-law of Mudcrutch guitarist Tom Leadon, whose older brother is original Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon.

The video features footage of the band performing the song at the Troubadour in Hollywood in 2008. It was shot so Leadon’s elderly father, who was unable to attend, could see his son perform.

Guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench were in the original Mudcrutch, which (minus drummer Randall Marsh) evolved into Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
