Tiger Woods Smiles at Fan Wearing His Mugshot on a Shirt

Moments after Tiger Woods and Kevin Na cracked up the crowd on the island green at The Players Championship on Saturday, the 14-time major champion was surprised by a fan’s custom Tiger gear during his walk to the next tee.

Spectator Thomas Wesling showed up to TPC Sawgrass on Saturday wearing a t-shirt featuring a photo of Woods’ mugshot from his 2017 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. Woods explained the incident stemmed from a mix of prescription drugs he was taking while recovering from back issues.

Wesling called out Woods’ name and tried to get his attention, and while Tiger didn’t slow down or turn his head, he did smile as he passed Wesling.

Wesling said that other pro golfers thought his shirt was hilarious.

Via theJournal Sentinel:

“I didn’t really anticipate this, but it got a reaction from almost every single person that we walked past at the tournament,” Wesling said.
That included many of the players that walked past Wesling during the day, as well, including big laughs from Jon Rahm and Jason Dufner. One of the tournament workers told Wesling that Dufner had his caddie alert Woods’ caddie that the shirt would be near the 18th tee.
“I didn’t really expect to get noticed by the players themselves,” Wesling said. “It’s hard to get Tiger to notice anyone because so many people yelling at him.”
