On Sunday, three experienced skydivers initiated a rescue mission after spotting a small plane crash into a Wisconsin cornfield. The group was preparing for their own flight when they saw the plane disappear behind the trees and realized it had gone down with four people aboard.
They asked their pilot to find a safe place for them to jump near the wreckage, notified emergency crews, then parachuted into the area and rushed to help the passengers. One of the skydivers is a former paramedic and was able to assist a survivor with a serious head injury until EMS arrived.
All four people aboard the plane survived and are expected to be okay, with three taken to a hospital to be checked out. One of the rescuers says that after three decades of skydiving, it was the first time he'd ever jumped out of a plane to help someone in an emergency.
