A pair of young brothers are being credited with helping save six seniors from a burning assisted living facility in Glendale, California, last Friday. Alex Bazinyan, 20, and his 15-year-old brother Narek live nearby and rushed over after hearing a nurse screaming for help as flames and heavy smoke poured from the home.
The brothers initially tried fighting the fire with a hose before realizing people were still trapped inside. They ran into the smoke-filled building and, with help from two other neighbors, carried the elderly residents outside one by one before firefighters arrived.
All six seniors made it to safety, with seven people suffering only minor injuries in the fire. The brothers say running toward the danger was simply instinct, crediting their tight-knit community and the desire to help neighbors in need.
