Fans of Freaky Friday can't wait to see Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite as mother and daughter (or daughter and mother if any more body-switches happen) in the upcoming sequel, but they will also see another familiar race returning to the big screen.
Chad Michael Murray is officially confirmed to be appearing in the Freaky Friday sequel releasing next year to reprise his role as Jake, Anna's (Lohan) high school crush/love interest in the 2003 film, per Entertainment Tonight. The announcement was made Thursday (July 18) in a joint post on Instagram with Murray, Disney and Disney Studios, and based on the photo, Jake will still be as cool and mysterious ever as Murray, wearing jeans, a black T-shirt and sporting a chin-length hairstyle, poses on a black motorcycle.
"Jake is back, baby," the caption reads. "The sequel to Freaky Friday is coming to theaters 2025."
Murray isn't the only one excited for his return to the land of angsty body-swapping family members. Curtis, who played Anna's mom Tess in the original film and had flirty banter with Jake while a spell had switched mom and daughter into each other's bodies, can't wait to reunite.
She reshared Murray's post on her own Instagram Stories, writing, "Oh Jake... we have MISSED YOU!" Murray reposted the shoutout and cheekily responded, "Don't tease me Tess 😉."
Lohan, who first confirmed news of a sequel earlier this year, and Curtis confirmed in June that production on the Freaky Friday sequel had begun, sharing a post on Instagram of the pair holding hands and sitting in front of each other's trailers.
"The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025," the caption stated. "The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!"
