Alfie Allen Honors 'Game Of Thrones' Body Double Who Died On Christmas Eve

Premiere Of Fox Searchlights' "Jojo Rabbit" - Arrivals

Devastating news for Game of Thrones fans.

Andrew Dunbar, the performer who stood in as the body double for Alfie Allen’s Theon Greyjoy on the medieval series, died in Belfast, Ireland, just before the holiday on Christmas Eve (December 24). TMZ, who broke the unfortunate news on Saturday (December 28), learned of Dunbar’s death via his friends and coworkers. As yet, no cause of death has been disclosed.

In the wake of the crushing news, Allen took to social media to share a tribute in Dunbar’s honor. “Andrew Dunbar was an actor who was also a stand in as Theon on GoT. Extremely shocked and saddened to hear of his passing,” Allen wrote of the departed star, who was reportedly in his 30s when he passed. “To lose a loved one so young, I can only imagine what his family are going through.”

Not only did Dunbar stand-in for Allen from GoT seasons 6 through 8, he also fulfilled a number of other extras spots on the show. In addition, he’s portrayed a Stark bannerman and one of Jon Snow’s allies during the “Battle of the Bastards” episode. A memorial shared on Instagram by the Extras Dept. agency also revealed Dunbar had acting credits in other projects such as Krypton, Derry Girls, and Line of Duty.

Rest in peace, Andrew.
