VTA & GREATER MIAMI VALLEY MYVETERAN COMMUNITY ANNOUNCE 

WOMEN VETERANS ART EXHIBIT

 

 Victoria Theatre Association and the Greater Miami Valley myVeteran Community announce the opening of the Women Veterans Art Exhibit on Monday, Oct. 1, in the Orchestra Lobby of the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center

The exhibit is free, open to the public and runs until Wednesday, Oct. 17. The public may view the display Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 12-4 p.m. (unless the building is closed for a private event. Call (937) 228-7591 to confirm hours).


“Veterans are a crucial part of the makeup of the Miami Valley,” says Colonel (retired) Dr. Cassie Barrow, Chair of the Greater Miami Valley myVeteran Community. “2017 marked the 100th anniversary of women officially entering the regular U.S. military with full military rank and equal pay. To celebrate this milestone our my Veteran Community, along with Victoria Theatre Association and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, have come together to present the Women’s Veterans Art Exhibit in the Orchestra Lobby of the Schuster Center. We hope that Dayton and its surrounding communities visit this exhibit will provide insight into the many experiences of our women veterans.”


The Department of Veteran Affairs’, Women Veterans Art Exhibit, showcases eleven art pieces of ten women Veterans featuring images of their artwork, photos of the artists and brief biographies. The ten women Veteran artists selected to display their work and autobiographical storyboard in the exhibit are: Victoria R. Bryers (United States Coast Guard); Pamela Corwin, (United States Army); Amy Forsythe, (United States Marine Corps); Natalie Lopez, (United States Air Force); Cara Myhre, (United States Army); Debra Russell, (United States Navy); Deveon Sudduth, (United States Army); Laura Taylor, (United States Navy); Stacey Thompson, (United States Marine Corps); and, Lindsay Zike, (United States Navy).
