'Springsteen On Broadway' Is Heading To Netflix In December

If you couldn't afford to see Bruce Springsteen on Broadway, you'll be happy to know that The Boss' critically acclaimed show, Springsteen on Broadway, is heading to Netflix, as per Deadline.

On Wednesday (July 18), it was reported that the rock icon's sold-out show at Walter Kerr Theater is heading to the streaming platform at the end of the year. The production, which won a Special Tony Award in June, is based on his best-selling autobiography, Born to Run. Springsteen on Broadway will end on December 15, the same night that Netflix will launch a filmed version of the production. "We are thrilled to bring Bruce Springsteen — a master storyteller, humanitarian and voice of the everyman — to Netflix in this historic one man show," Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, at Netflix, said in a statement. "This groundbreaking experience defies the boundaries of theater, concerts and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time."

It might not be the last we see of the production either. "I'm here until December," he recently told the Star Tribune about taking the show on the road. “We'll see, we'll see, we'll see. I've gotta run.”

"The purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce's entire audience intact and complete. In addition to its many other virtues, Netflix has provided for a simultaneous worldwide release which is particularly important for our massive international audience," his manager Jon Landau said. "Ted Sarandos and the entire company's support has been a perfect match for Bruce's personal commitment to the filmed version of Springsteen on Broadway."
