The Great Ones Season of 2017-2018 flies into the Rockin’ Orchestra series with an opening performance of rock and symphonic tribute to the iconic Prince. Starting in 1979, Prince Rogers Nelson was a strong, innovative performer in the world of rock and roll. He made his own way through the music industry, making his rock and roll, his blues, his jive distinctive. When Prince performed his music, there was so much more than just a man and his guitar. His wide vocal range and instrumental dexterity, along with his flamboyant personality, made his performances one of a kind. His music on its own is just as memorable. This evening of The Music of Prince, guest vocalist Mackenzie Green and music director Nisan Stewart will join the DPO to feature many of Prince's best known works, including “Little Red Corvette,” “Kiss,” “When Doves Cry,” “Purple Rain,” and “Raspberry Beret.” “The key to longevity is to learn every aspect to music that you can.” (Prince) . . . Cheers to Prince and longevity. You won’t want to miss this tribute.
