George Ezra Says He Wrote 'Don't Matter Now' To Remind Himself To Relax

Ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated sophomore effort, George Ezra made the rounds to spread word about the set's lead single, "Don't Matter Now," and it comes with an important message regarding uncertainty. During his promo circuit, the British singer/songwriter stopped by iHeartRadio HQ in New York City to chat it up with our host Ellie Lee and we learned that even things for the worldwide sensation can appear just as confusing.

"[Don't Matter Now] was actually one of the first songs I wrote for the record. I wrote back in 2015. I sat on it for sometime," Ezra explained to Lee. "If I'm honest, it was just a song I wrote to remind myself to relax a little more than I do. I think we all need a bit of that."

With everything that happened during 2016, particularly the political landscape, the singer thought that the cut felt much more appropriate to release at this point in time. "Everything that could have happened did happen," he added. Elsewhere in the chat, the 24-year-old spoke about how he's venturing into this next stage of his career and the direction of his follow-up Wanted on Voyage.
